Building a repertoire of essential skills in students, especially at the Primary Level requires a comprehensive evaluation plan that allows the teachers to identify relative strengths and identify areas for improvement in student competence.
At the Primary level, the school academic year is divided across two semesters, Semester-1 (June-September) and Semester-2 (October-March). Student promotion is decided on the basis of performance in both the semesters using the instruments of written and oral assessments. The schedule of the assessments is available in the Academic Calendar.
Student performance is eventually documented as grades, with specific indicators that describe in detail the comments from the respective teachers. This in-built mechanism for feedback is crucial in providing students with an increased awareness about areas that need to be addressed for greater understanding.
