“Reading is a passport to countless adventures”
Reading and sharing stories help children to develop literary skills. It sparks a child’s imagination and stimulates curiosity
National reading day is celebrated in the honour of the father of India’s Library Movement - late P N Panicker. He practised and emphasized the improvement of reading abilities. Hence the celebration started in 1996 in honour of Panicker’s memory. This day started with the call of “Read and Grow”
Reading will not just support our students’ academic progress, it also gives them a gift which will last far beyond their school days – the gift of imagination and creativity and a love of reading.
Recognizing the importance of reading at a young age, UKG celebrated reading day on 5th July 2022 with various activities.
A list of books with their publications was shared with parents a week prior to the event. The children were asked to bring their favourite story books to read in the class. Children also created reading pointers and used them while reading books with their peers, and were asked to make more such reading pointers and bring it to school the next day. They were encouraged to read the books in the library.
It was indeed an event filled with joy- joy of building a stairway to imagination.
Let our children be bitten by the reading bug!
